Black Hole Group
We are the black hole group.
We wanted to answer the following questions
What’s inside a black hole?
Cameron found out there is lots of space junk in there as well as anything else that gets stuck in there.
Why do black holes suck you in ?
Jimmy found out that there is so much gravity in a black hole that it sucks you in and you can never get out.
Do you go to another dimension if you go in a black hole?
Kester found out you don't go to another dimension, you just go in and stay in.

Our Earthquake Stories
We wrote about our Earthquake experiences.
We also posted them on http://whenmyhomeshook.co.nz/ where you can leave us a message. When the earthquake hit I was in the playground and I couldn’t stand up. I went down like a turtle. When I saw Marshall I went to tell a teacher he got hurt. We lined up and I felt safe with my class. After a long time we got cold so we went inside. Then another big earthquake hit. I ducked down and I listened to the teacher. The lights were swinging in the classroom and it wasn’t safe. I was a turtle under the table and I was holding on. Mrs Mac said it was safe and we had to wait for our parents to come.

When the earthquake hit I was playing outside and we were all safe because we were in our turtles. We did the roll and we waited for the teacher to tell us if we were allowed in the class. When we were back inside there was a really big earthquake and we weren’t allowed to stop to get our shoes on. We weren’t allowed back in the class. Mum came and got me and took me home.

I was on the playground and everything was shaking on top of the monkey bars. I was shaking and everyone was shaking. I got down and I sat down under the seats. I got up and came to the teachers. I hugged the teachers. Then I was moving really fast to get safe. Then I went home and there was another earthquake. We had to sit under the trampoline. I saw a lot of stuff fall down. A big high shelf fell down and the house moved into another house.

Mum took us home and there was a little earthquake. I went under the table.

In the earthquake we all got into turtles and this is how the story begins. Earthquake. The ground is shaking. We get into a turtle. Everybody in the classroom was holding onto a desk. When we went outside and Mrs Craib called the roll. I said here. Then my dad got here and I went home. There were a few earthquakes after that. The earthquake was a big tremor. Lots of people in the central city died. My mum was at polytech. She was right next to a clock tower. The clock tower was rattling. There were cars under the clock tower trying to get out. There were people trying to avoid being crushed by the falling bricks. Lots of building came down but our school didn’t, even though it’s made of bricks.

El Gregoe's visit
We went to the hall today to watch the El Gregoe show ‘You’ve got the Power.’
He is a magician who made us laugh and think about his messages. He told us hands are for helping and never for hurting. He kept pouring containers of water into a bucket – he did it 16 times. He said ‘the water keeps pouring, everyday we keep caring, pour out a little help.’
Michael from Room 9 went onto the stage and El Gregoe put a mask on him. He chose a Frisbee and not the $100.
He had different coloured scarves and he showed us every scarf was different like us, but when we pull them together we can make one big picture. We can work together and share.
Monique went on stage and she helped El Gregoe make a table fly.
Boris the dog came to help him and he was clever. He told us to use our WITS.
Kester went on stage to help get a bird to arrive in the box. He got a bigger and bigger wand. The last one was huge!
The messages El Gregoe gave us were about respect, acceptance, fairness, trustworthy, encourage and caring.
We had fun!

Name Challenge
We had a challenge to see how fast we could type our names. The best time was 5 seconds. We are now working towards learning where the keys are on the computer and improving our own time.
